What is a hot pull down?

Refrigeration equipment typically operates in a stable environment with minimal fluctuations in box temperature. However, sudden load changes—such as an open door or the addition of warm product—require the system to "pull down" the temperature. During this hot pull-down phase, the unit will not adhere to standard Design Temperature Difference (DTD) or superheat guidelines. Fine-tuning should only occur once the system approaches its normal DTD.
