When a compressor gets so hot that the oil loses its ability to lubricate properly it will suffer from overheating. This can result in blow by, leaking valves, and metal debris due to prematurely worn rings, pistons, and cylinders.
How to identify overheating issues.
- Discolored valve plates
- Burned valve Reeds
- Worn pistons, rings, and cylinders
- Stator spot burns from metal debris
How to resolve overheating issues.
- Correct abnormally low load conditions
- Correct high discharge pressure conditions
- Insulate suction lines
- Provide proper compressor cooling
