Simplifying VRF System Installation with Fujitsu

Contrary to common belief, VRF systems do not require overly complex installations. Fujitsu’s streamlined setup makes the process straightforward. Below are the key installation components:

1. Outdoor Unit(s)

  • Placement: Install on a cement pad, elevated 2 inches above the snow line, avoiding high-drift areas.
  • Electrical: Dedicated power supply required.
  • Line Sets: Uses two or three pipes, connecting via separation tubes, manifolds, or branch boxes (for heat recovery).
  • Communication Cable: A daisy-chained pink wire connects outdoor to indoor units (X1, X2 for indoor, Z1, Z2 for outdoor).

2. Indoor Units

  • Placement: Maintain proper clearances for performance and servicing.
  • Electrical: Typically powered by one 230V 1PH circuit, with disconnect switches on each unit.
  • Line Sets: Connected after separation tubes, manifolds, or branch boxes.
  • Communication Cable: Daisy-chained from outdoor units (X1, X2 terminals).

3. Controls

  • Control Options: Supports wall thermostats, central controllers, 24V adapters, BACnet, Modbus, and more.
  • Wiring: Thermostats use 2-wire connections, while central controllers require power (100-240V) and connect via X1, X2 on the pink cable.

4. Startup & Service

  • Startups: Conducted by Johnstone TSA technicians, who review installations, record performance data, and provide guidance.
  • Service Support: While we don’t perform repairs, our Fujitsu support team provides troubleshooting assistance.
