How Can Pelican Wireless Help My Customers?

Pelican Wireless is an Energy Management System. Some may even call it a Building Management System. The biggest thing is that you more than likely have a lot of buildings under no control and set points and schedules are all over the place. This costs your customer money. With Pelican you can view the whole building at once, schedule thermostats individually, history graphing of set points, temperature, CO2, Humidity, and more. Your site will have a specific web address, this allows for any Internet enabled device to see the site, weather it's a phone, tablet, computer, the site readjusts automatically to fit.

Pelican works by first establishing a gateway. The gateway connects through outgoing ports on your network to pelican servers. Then the gateway starts the mesh network that the thermostats will be working on. This does two things for you. First you don't have to worry about hacking since we only require an outbound port on a network and no incoming ports. The second thing is, is that we also do live on the existing WiFi network to clutter it up. With the mesh network we also do not need to run communication wire between the devices. We can hold up to 2000 devices per gateway. So with that said we are a good fit for just about anywhere, or as I like to say, "this is your commercial thermostat now".

Thermostats are a breeze to setup, basically like another thermostat you have programmed, with a few extra features. If you can wire a basic thermostat then you can wire a Pelican thermostat. The thermostats come in four basic models and that is heat and cool. Humidity, CO2 and humidity in CO2. All fully programmable through the application and can be electronically locked out if desired. No passwords or anything like other thermostats just straight lockout. This prevents the need of additional security boxes over the thermostats in the space or end users getting a passcode off youtube.

Pelican also has a module called the pearl. The pearl is our economizer module. This wires in at the RTU and the thermostat communicates with it. You can set up the perimeters yourself or let Pelican Auto configure if you want. All that we require is that the damper for the economizer is a zero to 10 damper This module can also be used to monitor three sets of temperatures or alarm contacts.

Pelican also has the ability to do zoning. VAV, VVT and standard zoning systems are all possible with the Pelican zone module. The zone module controls the equipment while the thermostats wirelessly communicate with the panel for needs and their individual spaces. The thermostats control the dampers and or VAV boxes in their individual spaces. We are able to control staging, type controls and modulating controls on equipment such as hot water valves and VFDs. We can also control by static pressure in a duck system by taking over a VFD for the blower or a 0 to 10 volt bypass damper actuator. The same zone controller can also be used to stage boilers and or chillers as well.

Just to make Pelican and even more enticing option, they also have available a power control module. This is basically a relay board that we can schedule. Fans, pumps, air compressors, lights, and whatever else you'd want to control that has line voltage to it. They have a contact rating of 10 amps so if it's more than that we just need to add a pilot relay or contactor then we are all set.

So what kind of cost does Pelican have? The answer is it depends. If you want one user access and 7 days worth of historical data and alerts only on the site itself then there is no subscription cost. if however, you want multiple admins and users and you want 2 years worth of historical data and the ability to have your alerts texted and or emailed, then it's $2.99 thermostat per year. Compared to other systems this is going to be your cheapest bet and you can still get a quality system at a super good price.

So Pelican can do a lot for your customer and even potentially you as well. They can potentially keep you on the site and you will have access to their alerts and everything like that so you can do preventative maintenance so on and so forth. We have lots of different ways of monitoring and controlling buildings with Pelican.  So create a ticket with us today by using the tab on the left side and select VRF and building controls. Put in your request and we will get back with you.
