Summary of Pertinent Information and Regulations Within ACCA Manual-S

This document was created by Scott Breimayer with Johnstone Supply-Comfort Control in an effort to organize and simplify the complex ideas and information within ACCA Manual S Residential Equipment Selection Second Edition, Version 1.00. Authority on this subject matter rests with the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). All regulatory information hereinafter is derived from the Manual unless explicitly noted otherwise. It is recommended that this document serves solely as reference and the user purchases and understands the concepts within the full version of ACCA Manual-S.

The Manual is separated into two sections: normative and informative. The normative section serves to standardize equipment selection by determining sizing values and acceptable oversize limits while the informative section serves to inform the reader as to why the limits exist and the consequences of incorrect equipment sizing. References within the Michigan Residential Code 2015 are to the normative section.
